Privacy Policy
Last updated September 16, 2026
Curator Cate ("Curator Cate," "we," "us") helps creators triage the questions their followers ask over Instagram Direct Messages, group repeated questions together, and send a reply back once the creator has answered. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Curator Cate is a product of 11906569 Canada Inc. This policy does not cover Instagram itself, which is operated by Meta Platforms, Inc. and governed by Instagram's own terms.
Information we collect
Account information
When you sign up for Curator Cate, we collect the name and email address you provide, and a securely hashed password. If you invite teammates, we collect the same for each account they create.
Your connected Instagram account
When you connect an Instagram professional account, Meta's Instagram Login flow gives us an access token for that account, along with its Instagram user ID and username. We use this token only to act on your behalf, as described below.
Messages and comments from your followers
Once connected, Instagram sends us the content of Direct Messages your followers send to your professional account, along with each sender's Instagram-scoped ID (a per-app identifier Meta assigns them, not their username or profile), and comments left on your posts. We use this to group similar questions, draft reply suggestions, and, once you've approved a reply, send it back.
Usage data
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We don't run third-party advertising or analytics trackers on the app.
How we use information
- Operate your account and authenticate you when you sign in.
- Group similar questions from your followers into a single topic, so you can answer once instead of replying to each message individually.
- Generate a draft reply to comments using AI, based on your own standing reply instructions, for you to approve, edit, or reject before anything is sent.
- Send your reply back to every follower who asked, once you publish an answer, or to a commenter once you approve a reply.
- Send you account-related email, such as sign-in confirmations or password resets, through our transactional email provider.
- Diagnose and fix bugs, using our error-monitoring provider.
We do not use your data to train machine learning models, and we do not sell it.
Instagram & Meta platform data
Curator Cate uses the Instagram API under Meta's Platform Terms and Developer Policies. Data we receive from Instagram is used strictly to provide the reply-management features you've connected your account for:
instagram_business_basic— read your connected account's basic profile (ID, username) so we know which account a message or comment belongs to.instagram_business_manage_messages— receive Direct Messages sent to your account and send your replies back.instagram_business_manage_comments— read comments on your posts and publish replies you approve.
We never post to your feed, follow or unfollow anyone, or access messages or comments for accounts you haven't explicitly connected. You can revoke access at any time from Instagram's own Settings → Apps and Websites, or by disconnecting the account inside Curator Cate.
How we share information
We share information only with the service providers who help us run Curator Cate — Meta/Instagram, to send and receive your messages and comment replies; an AI provider, to draft suggested replies and cluster fan questions; and infrastructure providers who handle email delivery and error monitoring on our behalf. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else, except if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Curator Cate, our users, or the public.
Data retention
We keep account, message, and comment data for as long as your account is active, so that past conversations and their answers stay available to you. If you delete your account, we delete your account data and disconnect any linked Instagram account within 30 days, except where we're required to keep records for legal or accounting reasons.
Your rights & choices
- Access & correction — update your name and email any time from your account settings.
- Disconnect Instagram — unlink a connected account from the Instagram settings page inside Curator Cate; we stop receiving new messages and comments for it immediately.
- Delete your account — request full deletion at any time (see Data Deletion).
- Regional privacy rights — depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, port, or object to the processing of your data. Contact us to exercise them.
Security
We encrypt data in transit and store access tokens and passwords using industry-standard encryption and hashing. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and respond quickly if something goes wrong.
Children's privacy
Curator Cate is intended for creators and businesses, and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify account holders by email.
